Our history – Kiele

Our story begins in 2002, when two friends with a clear vision and a love for the sea decided to embark on an adventure in an unusual place for a fish semi-preserve company: in Socuéllamos (Ciudad Real). For many, it seemed like madness, but it soon became our greatest strength. Since the beginning, we have worked with the freshest, highest-quality fish, carefully selected from Spanish fish markets. Our production process is artisanal: we cut and clean each piece by hand.

The company was founded with a single product, anchovies in vinegar, a classic of our cuisine. However, shortly after starting this journey, the disaster of the Prestige struck the northern coast of Spain. It was a particularly difficult time for us, as the anchovies from the Cantabrian Sea, our main and only raw material, disappeared due to the ecological catastrophe. This unexpected blow tested us and pushed us to reinvent ourselves.

Without losing our spirit, we decided to explore new options and embarked on the creation of something unique. We looked to the southern coast, where we found the sardine, and dared to give it a different treatment, creating a product with a unique texture and flavor: the Anchodina. This innovative product, which combines the best of the sardine with the taste and preparation method of the anchovy, not only helped us move forward in times of adversity, but also became our hallmark, something unique and exclusive that sets us apart in the market.

Thanks to this adaptability, we were able to consolidate our company and remain strong until marine life in northern Spain recovered and the fishing boats could return to those waters. Today, more than two decades after that bold beginning and all the challenges we’ve overcome, we are still here, committed to the quality and authenticity of our products. We have grown and evolved, but our spirit remains unchanged: the passion to offer the best from the sea, with the freshness and quality that our customers deserve. We are now present on the shelves of large supermarkets that value our brand, consolidating ourselves as one of the premium brands with the best quality-price ratio.
